Diagram of dynamic QR routing: one printed code whose scans are routed by rules. An iPhone scan follows the Device rule to the App Store, a morning scan follows the Schedule rule to the breakfast menu, an A/B split sends half of scans to each variant, and a scan that matches nothing lands on the always-on fallback.

Change the destination

Same QR. New destination.
No reprint.

A printed code carries one address, and where that address sends a scan is yours to change. Pick a destination: the code stays exactly as printed, and the phone shows what the next scan opens.

Demo of changing where a QR code points: the same printed code opens a summer menu, then a winter menu, after the destination was changed in taproute.

Printed once. The symbol never changes.

Destination

cafeluna.example/menu/summer

A destination edit costs nothing and is never rationed.

What the next scan opens

Nothing here is a mock-up: the phone is the renderer that answers a real scan, on a real menu template, and the code decodes. Already printed and pointing at the wrong page?

Routing rules

Send each scan to the right page, from a badge printed weeks ago.

One conference badge, printed before anyone knew the running order. 8 rules decide where each scan goes · by day, by device, by language, by where the person is standing. When the running order changes, repoint the code: a destination edit costs nothing and is never rationed.

AI draft

Tell taproute what you need.
It drafts the page.

Watch it happen, then type your own: the briefs below are real, and so are the pages they produced · typed blocks on our renderer, never raw HTML. You edit everything before anything goes live.

A demonstration and a working prompt box: example briefs type themselves in and a finished landing page assembles section by section in a phone preview · each page is a real draft generated from its brief. Type your own brief and submit it to start drafting your page.

Analytics

Know what your codes are actually doing.

Every scan of a dynamic code is counted first-party: country, city, device, OS, referrer, campaign source and the scanner's local hour. No cookie is set on the phone that scanned, and nothing is stored against a person.

The Anti-Trap Pledge

You printed it.
You should control it.

01

A code that is still being scanned keeps your account alive

Elsewhere a trial ends and the code on your menu goes dark.

We measure the printed object, not your login. A code in active use keeps itself alive whether or not you ever sign in.

02

No interstitial ads. Ever.

Elsewhere ads start appearing weeks after you printed the code.

A scan goes straight to your destination in ~10–40ms. We put nothing in that path, on any account, ever.

03

No subscription, no auto-renewal

Elsewhere a monthly plan quietly renews annually, and cancelling is three menus deep.

We hold no charging authority. There is nothing to renew, so we are structurally incapable of surprise-billing you.

04

You buy it once. They rent it to you forever.

Elsewhere codes come in tiers of 3, 50 or 250, billed again every month you keep them.

A code costs 1 credit to create, once, and never again. No code tiers to cross, nothing recurring.

05

Credits last 18 months, and everything exports

Elsewhere unused balance vanishes at the end of a cycle, and your history is locked behind the plan you are trying to cancel.

Any top-up rolls your entire balance forward another 18 months, and everything you create here exports at any time.

Unit economics

Same workload.
A fraction of the bill.

Want your own branded domain? At the incumbents that puts a small business on a $168–420/yr tier ($294/yr on average), billed every year whether anyone scans or not. On taproute the same branded year (100,000 scans and a custom domain included) is one $149 Growth pack, bought once. Half their average in year one, and nothing at all billed in year two.

API and MCP included

Create codes from a script, or hand it to an assistant.

Same credits, no developer tier. Create codes in batches from a CI job, send scan events to your webhook, or give an assistant scoped access over MCP. Every credential carries its own scope, hourly rate limit and optional daily credit budget, so a runaway script hits its own ceiling before it reaches your balance.

Questions, answered

Can I change where a printed code points?

Yes, at any time and as often as you need. A destination change costs nothing and there is no monthly allowance of them to run out of. The printed address never changes and is never given to another link, so nothing already printed is affected. Changing a routing rule is different and costs 5 credits; the destination itself moves at no charge.

What happens when my balance hits zero?

On a paid account a grace period kicks in: your codes keep redirecting while we warn you. Worst case they pause; nothing is deleted and everything resumes the moment you top up. (The 30-credit trial has no grace window; codes pause when it runs out.) Codes are only ever removed with the account itself, and only after six months of no sign-ins, no scans and no unexpired credits · four emails and a one-click cancel before it happens.

Do credits expire?

Purchased credits are valid for 18 months, and any new purchase, even the $15 pack, rolls your entire balance forward another 18 months. We email you 30 days before anything expires. Nothing ever vanishes silently. The 30 credits we give you at signup are a 7-day trial, not a free tier.

What if a campaign goes viral?

You can never be billed past what you have already prepaid: the balance is the ceiling. A viral week spends credits faster, and at zero the codes pause (after the grace period on a paid account) rather than charge you. Per code, you can set a scan cap so a link pauses at a number you choose. To get ahead of it, turn on the refill reminder: when the balance drops below 5,000 credits we email a one-click top-up link, and nothing is ever charged automatically. The reverse is also true: a month with no scans costs nothing.

What is GS1 Digital Link and why does it matter?

It is the successor to the retail barcode: by GS1 Sunrise 2027, registers worldwide read 2D codes. taproute ships a conformant resolver, so one code on your packaging serves the product page, certifications and per-unit serials. Most QR platforms do not have this.

How much does a custom domain cost?

Every pack can hold one, because a domain is a matter of credits here, not of tier. You point a subdomain you already own (qr.yourbrand.com) at us with a single CNAME record, and we run the SSL and routing. We do not sell you the domain and we do not charge a white-label fee. Elsewhere the same CNAME-plus-certificate mechanism sits behind a $168–420/yr plan, billed for as long as you keep it. One domain is included free with every pack from Growth ($149) up, and Scale and Volume include two. On any other pack, or beyond your free allowance, a domain is a one-time 40,000-credit slot, up to your pack’s cap · the full table is on the pricing page. You buy it once and keep it for as long as your account is alive.

Is there an API?

Yes: a REST API plus a native MCP server on every account, at no extra charge. Same credits, no separate plan, no developer tier to upgrade to.

What about static QR codes?

They cost nothing and are not metered. They are made in your browser and the image never leaves it · only the link you encode is checked against our acceptable use policy. Dynamic codes are what consume credits when scanned.

How fast are redirects?

Scans are redirected at the edge, in the datacenter closest to the person scanning, typically 10–40ms anywhere in the world.
